Two Minds
We’re TwoMinds. We’re a group of good mates based in Christchurch – Corban, Jake, Liam, Dan. We’ve recently began putting gigs together with the aim of going the extra mile to create memorable environments for people to enjoy together – trying to bring people together for the full experience of our events, rather than focusing solely on headline acts. Corban (Corb), Liam (Corners), Jake (Potto) and Fergus (Ferg) make up our collective of house DJs, who have each been gradually playing bigger and bigger gigs around Christchurch and New Zealand throughout recent times.
These gigs range from festival slots at Tora Bombora, to a range of Canterbury University events, as well as playing at a variety of other gigs, clubs and events around Christchurch. Our first event we hosted – TwoMinds Project – Vol 1 – was on Friday 17th July which sold out in 30 mins. This consisted of 3 bands from Christchurch & Wellington, followed by the TwoMinds collective of house DJs – all experienced in the artistic, mini-festival environments that was created. Our second event – TwoMinds Takeover @ Sawyer – on Friday August 7th sold out in a matter of hours also. This consists of solely house DJs – Corners and Potto (of TwoMinds), as well as James Murphy (Dunedin) and Techno Tradie (Wellington). Our collective of DJs have also had slots at some big events around Christchurch – on 24th July, we had a TwoMinds Takeover slot at Canterbury Uni’s JIB event to a sold out Ngaio Marsh Theatre, where Corners & Potto played a 1 hour b2b. And on 1st of August, we had a 3 hour TwoMinds takeover slot at one of Canterbury Uni’s biggest events – Full Moon Party – featuring Corners, Corb & Potto.
We do a lot with Sounds of the Local, and have attached full recorded streams of both the TwoMinds Takeover set at JIB, and the last 90 minutes of the TwoMinds Takeover slot at Full Moon (mentioned above). We’ve also attached snippets of Full Moon, a short clip of Ferg’s set at our TwoMinds Project event featuring a coordinated dance sequence, as well as the after-video of this event. We have a range of gigs of our own on the horizon, with TwoMinds Project Vol 2 being pieced together (and just released) for October 2nd, as well as a summer schedule that so far includes a 2 hour TwoMinds Takeover slot at the Le Currents Festival, as well as other slots yet to be announced. We were also set to host a full TwoMinds Takeover of Canterbury Uni’s Mono Nights on August 13th, which is now postponed until we are able to have 1,000 people in the same venue.
