Ferrymead Heritage Park is an early 1900’s replica township, which makes it one of the most unique festival venues in New Zealand. The park has a variety of restored cottages, a school house, church and businesses, which all reflect the period — allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the lives of early Christchurch residents. Trams and steam trains run during the festival, adding to the festival atmosphere.

Set within the township, Nostalgia is a festival unlike any other. It’s where good food and music meet arts, culture and entertainment. There will be live theatre performances throughout the day and pop-up entertainment to be enjoyed by all. Characters who embody the spirit of the park will be popping up during the day, adding to the atmosphere. Catch the steam train for a scenic jaunt through the Heathcote Valley or check out one of the parks numerous museums and displays. Or take a stroll through the Village Market, featuring an array of artists, makers and collectors with market stalls along a heritage replica street.

Youth & Kids Tickets - Pre-sale tickets (door sales only available if not previously sold out) for ages 5 -17 are available now. Children under 5 are free. Kids are more than welcome, but remember this is a supervised event meaning all under 18’s MUST be accompanied by an adult. The heritage park provides the perfect facilities to keep all ages happy with displays, a playground, steam train and entertainment provided throughout the event.

Young Families - Festival friends Plunket will be on hand with their bus and parent station which offers young families a feeding and changing station, plus a little resting spot to escape the days festivities.

Drink Sales

All drinks are served in Globelet reusable cups. Cups are available throughout the festival for purchase or hire at $3. Wash and water stations are placed throughout the park.

Transport & Parking

Nostalgia Festival continuously strives towards increasing sustainable initiatives, which includes encouraging festival-goers to take the bus or ride your bike.


Bike racks are provided and are located by the main festival entrance at Ferrymead Heritage Park office. Or alternatively join the festival Bike Gang Ride to Nostalgia to gain priority entry into the festival, plus other perks - click here for more info.


Festival parking is available within the Ferrymead Sports Fields off Ferrymead Park Drive. Parking will be sign posted and staffed.


Private buses leaving to and from the city centre are available whilst purchasing your tickets online, but numbers are limited so get in quick!

General FAQs

  • There is grass area around the main stage and seating located throughout the park, however you are welcome to bring your own picnic blanket or chairs
  • First Aid facilities are provided onsite
  • No outside food or drink is allowed onsite, we do permit drink bottles – but no glass allowed
  • No animals are allowed within the festival
  • Disability Access – The Ferrymead Heritage Parks existing infrastructure provides the necessary facilities and amenities throughout the majority of the park, excluding a couple of exhibition areas. If you have any questions or would like to more about this, leave a message on our contact page.
  • Supervised Event – All under 18’s must be accompanied by an a parent or legal guardian ticket holder
  • What if it rains? Nostalgia will go ahead in the rain; measures are in place to insure the festival can run in all weather conditions, unless deemed unsafe for the festival to proceed in which case the event will be cancelled and ticket purchases will be refunded

Terms & Conditions

  • Gates for the festival open at 12.30pm and close at 7.30pm
  • There will be gate sales if tickets are still available
  • No outside food or drink is to brought into the festival – bags will be searched
  • Organisers reserve the right to photograph or film at the event, they also obtain the right to use photography during and following the event for press and social media
  • All online purchased tickets are subject to a booking fee - Tickets are non-transferable
  • Musician line up may be subject to change
  • The organiser will not be held liable for any damages, injuries or loss held during the festival, if the ticket holder is deemed negligent or unforeseen actions of other festival-goers. Admission is at the festival-goers own risk
  • Supervised Event – All under 18’s must be accompanied by an a parent or legal guardian ticket holder
  • Wristbands are provided to all festival-goers, wristbands for purchasing alcohol will be provided and must be worn if purchasing alcohol. ID must be presented to security to obtain a wristband - Accepted ID is current NZ Drivers License, Passport or current HANZ 18+ card
  • Behaviour - All festival-goers must act in an orderly manner. Excessive alcohol consumption will not be tolerated. Security and staff may refuse entry or evict any persons that are behaving in a disorderly or inappropriate manner.
  • No pets are permitted within festival grounds
  • Health & Safety – A Health and Safety plan is in place with a Health & Safety officer onsite during the festival
